Are they all arseholes?
I pranged the van yesterday on the A1, and they're offering me a Nissan Micra as a replacement while it gets fixed.
What's the use of that?

ugly car for ugly bob,

is that worth 3 stars bob.
Question Author
suppose so.
They've upped it to an astra van now. Woohoo. Still of absolutely no use whatsoever. Was an Volkswagen LT35 (big van), but because they class it as a 'fault accident' they won't replace like-for-like. I dispute it as being my fault. If the guy in front of me hadn't crashed and stopped suddenly because of that, I wouldn't have hit him, then the guy behind wouldn't have hit me!
But I ran into the back of someone, so technically it's my fault.
Balls!!
Gonna have to hire a van now
never mind about the van mate,as long as no one was hurt.
Question Author
no serious injuries.
One guy popped his collar bone, but was treated on scene - no hospitalisation.
The metal will mend or get replaced I know, but it's still annoying
Is the moral of the story is read the policy small print?
Question Author
looks like it jake.
Just found out it's been written off cos the back end of the chasis is bent.
Anyone got a van for sale? ;-)
Nightmare Bob!! Go to a garage and tell them you're in the market for a van but would like a demonstrator for a while. When your time runs out on that demonstrator go to another garage and do the same, repeat for as many garages as you can find. This should keep you on the road cheaply for a month or so by which time you'll hopefully have the insurance payout to buy a new van.
go to the auction and grab yourself an old volvo 740 estate for a few quid to keep you going
Question Author
tali - would love to be able to do it in an estate. Theyve offered us an astra van, but we need a 4m load space. Only VW and Mercedes offer that in a 3.5 tonne van.
sharky that's not actually a bad idea.
Thing is, I can't take any 2nd hand van. If it's been a builder's van, it's no use. Need to be really clean inside - I'm transporting graphic panels and exhibition equipment.
8000 to ix the van, been written off. The van is worth SO much more to us than the actual value!!!
Sorry to hear that Bob.

I was going to suggest you make sure future insurers would supply a replacement van but if you need a really clean one that may not help.

Hope they pay up promptly,
Yep, same sentiments as Jake.

Can't think of any other solutions, hope you get it sorted Bob. Good luck.
