Looking to replace both of mine, currently cheap ones imported from China. Do the job amazingly well but after one that GPS to log this on the video screen and to roughly calculate the speed of the vehicle and record this in the video as well.

My current dash cams only record a perfect picture and include a date & time stamp.

Reasonably priced, well-reviewed and seems to do everything you want:

Mine is the predecessor to this. I've had it for over 2 years and would happily buy the same one again (thinking about it for a rear view).
There is a whole suite of them with/without GPS, with/without built-in memory etc. Built-in memory is unnecessary if you're going to use SD cards.

I've got the Eprance Mini 0803 that bhg481 refers to. Excellent video with gps logging. Think I've had mine for about 3yrs with no issues.

Easy to fit with someone of average DIY skills.
Just for Interest, how many on here have them fitted? I have 2.
I don't have any, find I have no need for them!
I have a front and rear one and wouldn't be without one
You don't need one until you need one, Islay. Not until the person in front of you reverses into you and claims you ran into the back of them. I bought mine after 2 incidents. One where a teenager suddenly ran into the road in front of me in Germany; I stopped but might not have but would have been able to prove I was within the speed limit etc. The second where the police in Austria pulled me in accusing me of knocking a moped rider off and not stopping; I was able to convince them that I'd seen the rider sitting by the roadside as I passed but still suffered an hour's delay.
I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these. I'm sure some woman was trying to get me to go into the back of her the other day.
It's also like them appointing a new head coach for the England Rugby team. Do they also need a coach for the feet etc?
Sorry, wrong thread.
Have driven in London professionally for 13 years and never get the need for 1, currently drive 20,000+ a year and still don't feel the need!
Watch the space Islay.
The problem is that, when they have an accident, people become liars. With a camera you can prove your version is the true one.
Why TWR?
Looking to get one when we get new car next month, so looked at link and it has a note dated April 2015 saying that it can no longer be recommended.

Apparently received too much negative feedback.
Out of interest, are dashcams registered in any way, yet? Or do drivers just "lose them" if it's their fault?
Mine isn't registered pixie. In fact my insurance company (LV=) weren't in the least bit interested when I told them I'd fitted one. If I have an accident which is my fault there is no obligation on me to produce the video.
No, they are not registered and nobody is expected to offer up evidence of their own guilt
Thanks- just wondered if it was any sort of deterrent.
It will work in the interest of the innocent Motorist / Cyclist Pixie, this happened in the Manchester / Blackburn area where accident scams were going on by Asians.
