Bootlid Lock/Mechanism Failure

I can't open my MGB Roadster bootlid despite the lock and key operating correctly. I suspect that the screw holding the release mechanism has loosened or come out completely. The rear bulkhead is solid therefore there is no access to the lock from inside the car unless I cut an access hole. Have you got any better ideas of how I can get into the boot, please?
