Liability for constant problems?

Hi - I bought a car 2 years ago ('55 plate, Nov 2005 registration) from a used car dealer. Since then among a catalogue of issues I have had a head gasket repair done - this cost over £2000 in itself. The previous owner, according to Nissan (it's an XTrail), had to replace a turbo and has contacted Nissan - presumably to dispute the liability! So there's a precedent of issues. I am experiencing yet more problems now again linked to the air con and head gasket and just want rid of the car, but am unhappy lumbering someone else with it as I have been. What options do I have? Is it Nissan's problem for shipping a faulty car? The reselling garage for negligence? The previous owner, for witholding information? Is it the fault of a garage with whom I had an air con check two months before the head gasket failure, were they negligent? Any advice is appreciated, or am I better off either selling the car, trying to get it written off or contacting a legal firm?? Thanks.

With respect Noof, Ist, did you take someone with you when you first looked at the car & check it out? did you have a warranty? did you do your homework on the dealer? did you take the car back with any issues you had? if not, why not? depending how long you had the car before many things had gone wrong, you should have demanded your money back, if the sellers fobbed you off you could have contacted Trading Standards as to me, the car was not fit for purpose, 2yrs there's not much you can do not only trade the car in, If you decide to do that, its up to you if you declare the faults, if you DO say nothing & a new seller contacts you tell them the truth.

You bought a 5 year old car 2 years ago, did it have full service history when you bought it ? Did it have low or high mileage when you bought it? How can you blame Nissan for problems with a car that is 7 years old.
It sounds like a lemon so just part ex it into a dealership and if it is that bad let them deal with it, but at that age they would probably put it through the auctions anyway.
