Well Doc, father's paying for their daughter's weddings is a bit of an out-dated tradition these days. Personally, I can't fathom why people want to spend so much money on one day that will be over so quickly. You can spend a vast fortune feeding and watering hundreds of guests - none of whom will even remember your anniversary the following year. I'd rather have a small, personal gathering and spend all the money on a fabulous honeymoon, or invest it in a nice new home.
