Correct me if I'm wrong.

1. Surely they could tell, that the earth close to the body, was older than the earth around the necklace?

2. The same with the cordite on the jacket would show that it was fresher than when the body was shot?

I'm absolutely sure the Police are better than the two Muppets, that are portraying them.
The man looks and acts more like a thug, and the woman behaves like a love sick child.

When police officers appear in soaps they never follow the procedures used even in police series.I remember a story in Home And Away years ago which went all the way to trial when a DNA test would have cleared the suspect immediatelt and it wasn't even mentioned then.

1. Don't agree .. the earth would be very similar .. and the only possibility of comparison would be if burial was years .. not months .. then compaction would be different ... and any plants .. roots would be in different establishment.
2. That's just a chemical residue .. I don't believe anyone could determine a difference of months. In fact in the programme was an error .. it was mentioned it was from the weapon .. It is from the cartridge charge.
