It's called beautiful sunday and I think It was by Daniel Boone.

.................shudders at the memory!
Yes, it was Daniel Boone Go to youtube. You can listen to it there if you like the song
Or possibly The Levellers - What A Beautiful Day which also has that lyric
now there's an image

...doing the slosh to The Levellers!!
LOL Dr Wu, excuse my terpsichoreal ignorance but what is the slosh exactly ?
I wish there was a wikipedia entry for 'the slosh' but sadly no!

It's a proto-line dancing shuffle done by drunken middle aged Scots 'en masse' in 'clubbies' and at weddings throughout Scotland in the 1970's/80's.

Knock 3 times was another slosh classic as was 'Amarillo' pre Peter Kay.

being a working class Dundonian, I had 1st hand experience of this and am still in therapy!

....and don't get me started on Sidney Devine!
Daniel o'Donnell also done a good version of Beautiful Sunday on his Jukebox Years Cd
Sounds brilliant, think ill stick to the Levellers though. Middle aged Scots and 80scombined with Amarillo just didnt sell it well.
don't knock it till you've tried it!!
Dr Wu,
Loved the description you gave of "The Slosh" Hope you are not knocking Dundee though. lol. I am still laughing!
I watched wedding reception revellers doing the slosh to this song whilst at a wedding in Scotland last October.

It was awesome!

And now I have the tune in my head :o)
Pippa
Is the slosh a scottish thing then? When you say awesome, do you mean good or bad. lol
I don't really know..but according to Dr wu it is..and as I haven't ever seen this done during celebrations in England I will have to agree, lol.

Awesome..yes it was an experience. Kids from 5 years old up to pensioners 80 +

You gotta love it!
Pippa
You gotta love it. I am ashamed to admit I know every step of it. lol
Well it made me smile, cruella ~ and anything that can do that has to be good!

Nothing like a bit of cheesey fun. Can't do any harm, eh?
Pippa.
The elderly whom I work with insist they have this dance at every social evening we arrange for them. hence the reason I have to join in!!!! lol
OK Dr Wu i'll strike a bargain with you. You try and keep The Slosh your side of the wall and i will promise to try and keep The Lambeth Walk south of Watford.
That rather begs the question:

what on earth is going on between Watford and Gretna!!??
Probably 'wig wam bam' or the 'time warp', Dr ;o)

cruella ~ it must be awful for you to have to join in. Aaaaaahh, old folk doing the slosh..gives me a warm fuzzy glow!
Even myself, who is 18, I know the slosh and when your at a night out and had a few drinks, everyones dancing to it, its a good laugh.
