Bbc Quiz : Week 38
Good evening, all!
Some good guesses helped me towards my score of FIVE out of seven in the main quiz this week:
https:/
I could only achieve a 'middling' THREE out of five in the junior quiz though:

[Sadly, it looks like the Timed Teaser quiz is no more] 🙁
Your turn!

My scores tonight are
4/7, 4/5
I read an article about BBC Long Wave radio being turned off next year and wondered if this was going to interfere with your radio communications hobby?
Our birthday celebrations for my son went well and we all enjoyed the 40s day at the steam railway. Will be popping along to nearby village Windmill for other events this weekend. Glad the weather is cooling down a little. Not sure how you have been coping with Chequers and Moonbeam snuggling in bed at night. I would not have been able to cope with the heat!
I wish you and the terrific trio a wonderful week ahead :-)
Ooh!
An early flurry of posts while I've been eating my gołąbki, I see!
It's so sad to read of your loss, Roo; I remember how I felt when my darling Biscuit was killed by a car. Keep making an extra big fuss of the other three though, to remind yourself how lucky you are to still have all of them.
(Congratulations on being a near-perfect kid this week, anyway!)
Hi, Susan! I'll be generous and assume that your low scores have only come about through the stress of moving, shall I? 😊
Good evening, Sam. I'm fine, thank you (after getting over a massive surplus of Japanese and Korean food this lunchtime - with someone else paying for it!). I hope that you're well too. Being stuck in the middle is definitely better than being stuck at the bottom, in my opinion!
Hi, Patsy! I think that I can just write "Ditto" here!
Better luck next week, Kwillmott!
Thanks for keeping Kwillmott company with your aggregate, Canary42!
Good evening, Karamia!
Well done on matching my agregate this week!
The only problem that the loss of BBC Radio 4 Long Wave will mean for me is that it'll be harder to hear Test Match Special in my car. (I'll need to use my phone to listen to Radio 5 Sports Extra online).
Although the loss of the Radio 4 transmitter won't make any difference to radio amateurs, there are lots of things that emit radio waves which we could certainly do without. For example, LED bulbs on dimmers can cause a great deal of interference, as can some solar panel installations. (Some amateurs can no longer use short wave from home; they have to drive out into the countryside to make international contacts because the situation is so bad where they live).
I'm pleased to hear that your son's birthday bash and the steam railway event both went well. I hope that the windmill celebration is a hit too. (I'm a big fan of windmills!).
Yes, having Moonbeam and Chequers snuggled up against me when it's a muggy night can make sleeping a bit difficult! It doesn't help either that the medications I'm on give me hot flushes throughout the night. I'll throw the covers off for a while to cool down but then feel cold again and pull them back over me. That can go on for hours!
The Troublesome Trio and I all hope that you'll have a wonderful week!
5/7 v 5/7
3/5 v 3/5 Snap
Shady caught a rat and gone to bed - another hard
week. Busy this week helping the protest against finance company based in Curuacoa building a 50metre communications tower on the Preselis to facilitate data transfer data from London to Ireland with no benefit to the local area
Hope you are not revolting this week and the terrific trio are treating you well :-)
Hiya, Haras2!
We're a perfect match this week, I see!
Shady seems to have been mirroring Tablo's activities too. At least I think that it was her who was responsible for the dead rat on the grass verge outside my house a few days ago. (She's had several mice this week as well and even big, lazy old Chequers caught and completely devoured a mouse the other day!).
I've just been reading up about that data tower:
https:/
Perhaps I should tell them that I've just been in radio contact with a guy near to Ottawa using nothing more than a bit of wire pushed into the bushes at the front of my house as an antenna? Who needs big towers anyway?!
There are plenty of people, I'm sure, who would say that I'm 'revolting' every week ;-)
The Terrific Trio are bossing me about as always, thank you, but I love it all the same ;-)
Good evening, Lie-in King! (Ruddy 'eck! I've actually matched your scores for once!)
