How come I can't remember family birthdays and anniversaries or hardly anything from my schooldays but I can remember that a finger of Fudge is just enough; for mash get Smash; if I do the Shake n Vac I'll put the freshness back and that hands that do dishes are as soft as your face with mild, green Fairy Liquid?

I also clearly remember that Opal Fruits are made to make your mouth water; that it will soon be the season to be jolly, tick a tick a Timex tra la la and I won't forget to light up the sky with Standard fireworks.

So why can't I remember my own telephone number? Why don't they teach children in jingles?

when I was a student studying Psychology at uni, I did an essay on this very subject, but sadly the essay was not set to music or done in a jingle so bu@@ered if I can remember the reason

I will never forget that Yorkies are not for girls. All because the lady loves Milk Tray and every girl loves her Mum :)

I remember those Christmas adverts for gift packs of fags, often in a round plastic tub - Players No. 6, I think they were. Or fancy boxes that looked like grand pianos.

bednobs has a good point about how being set to music helps you remember. But also constant repetition every time you turned ITV on. Did you call your phone number as often as you saw a Milk Tray ad?
