I cannot believe the insensivity or thoughtlessness of ITV there was a song on Benidorm ITV last night with someone at a karaoke singing two little boys by rolf harris just one day after he is convicted.

I agree with naomi and ummm - people seem to scour the media seeking trivia at which to be outraged.

What next - a media blackout on Australia, because that's where Rolf Harris comes from ?

Let's have some perspective.
I watched Benidorm last night and I saw this episode when it first aired. Cant say I'm outraged but was a bit surprised that they had to show this particular episode. No matter what what the history of the song people DO associate it with Rolf Harris
Baldric, that version by Kenny Rogers is so depressing, I only listened to 30 seconds and turned it off. much preferred Rolf's version, how very unethical of me, Oh well!
Well Tony said it was edited from ITV+1 so they obviously didn't realise it was in there.
Im curious, how exactly did they edit it from itv1?
I'm surprised Rolf didn't re-word the gender when he recorded it!!

Ratter, just making a point to the person who said it went back to the Napoleonic Wars (only 100 years out approx.) and had only been sung by RH,
What, in all that time??
It just that gordiescotland said that is was by Rolf Harris, which is incorrect. I didn't say it was only sung by Rolf Harris, merely that *was* sung by him.

Oh dear!!
Such a great disappointment to all those that loved this man.

Even his own website has apparently been removed from the server.
i'm puzzled as to why you are watching 'benidorm' if you are that easily offended
Somebody, somewhere is going to be reminded of terrible, personal life events every time a tv show features a murder, miscarriage, rape, infertility, bereavement, illness, drugs, abortion, domestic violence, alcoholism, a car crash......the list is endless.

Even a song can trigger vivid memories of an awful time.
I agree with Naomi and others - get a life for heaven's sake. There are much more worthier things to be outraged about.
It is relatively simple to be offended on other people's behalf. It makes us feel we are "doing something" about a situation that makes us feel powerless or even guilty. There are many things in our daily lives that we can be offended about, either on our own behalf or on behalf of others. I live in Northern Ireland, and I only have to look at the individuals who make up our Government to know that I could become so offended I would become suicidal (and I mean that literally) if I dwelt on the wrongs done in the past. The victims of monsters such as Harris, Glitter and Saville will also learn to deal with offence they encounter in their daily lives, because it will be everywhere. We can become offended on their behalf, but we will never be able to entirely remove the reminders and seeming indifference of the public to what happened. Sadly, it is a fact of life.
Inksplotter, in response to your 1109 post, here is your 0751 post

///Actually the song dates back to the Napoleonic War, it was only sung by Rolf Harris.///

You only had to go back and look to see 'only is there!
Baldric, I interpreted inkspotter's post to mean - this is an old song and Rolf Harris didn't write he, he only sung it.

Not that Harris was the only one to sing it
Based on gordie's ire, is the Queen going to bin the painting Rolf did of her, a few years back? I think not.

Ok we'll go benefit of doubt then!
;-)
If she sold out would you complain if your tax bill went down?
