Just seen a young fledgling sparrow in my garden. Isn't this a bit late. What are it's chances of survival with the weather getting colder? Haven't seen the
adults.

Twitchers where are you?
Have you put some food out for it, on the ground mainly? As the house sparrow has up to 4 broods a season, it is not unusual to see fledgelings around this late in the year. They have Red status now so are in trouble. I hope you can help this one by providing food and water and even shelter. Let's hope it doesn't keeps pouring with rain.

I was surprised how close I could get. Not sure how old the liitle one was but he still had that gape the youngsters have. I have put some food down and a
short time afterwards he disappeared into the undergrowth. I will look out for him tomorrow. Thanks for your answer ladybirder.
Oh dear if it's still got its gape that is young. I do hope its parent/s are about. Have you seen it fly?
