I do believe you spelt my name wrong there, oh dear.

That isn't a lack of knowledge. It is not maintaining a standard.

I quite honestly cannot believe what I am reading! A pi55?! Take a PGCE.

I'm more than satisfied with my ability to teach. As were the school where I trained and the course examiners who passed me.

1 B and 5 C's from my GCSE class (6 pupils was my total) is not something to be ashamed of.

Toodle ooh!!

P.S. If you do not value music performance as a good professional quality, I ask you think about this:

As required by the national curriculum, you are now to plan lessons which accomodate for pupils' Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural well-being. Music not only caters for these through performance, discussion, world music study and religious music study, but it also accomodates cross-curricular links. These include Maths, English, R.E. and ICT.

I am disgusted by almost all of you.
Awe and wonder.
Not as disgusted as I am by you.

No wonder education is down the pan if you are representative of to-days system.

Keep on digging the hole, that would be one way of finding Australia.
Good lord. I posted an item about bank charges last week and got a kicking for being a rubbish example to my students (which I probably deserved). But I would be very nervous about coming on here and stating barefacedly that you are a teacher and know not where Africa or Australia are. You hold yourself up to be an omniscient as a teacher. Also, what happens when you teach students about musicians such as Grainger or Chesworth? Are you prepared for the situation where a student asks a question about the composer's home or inspiration?
I teach English Language, Literature and Modern Languages at GCSE and A level and I feel that in order to give comprehensive knowledge of an author's inspiration I must know a little bit about their country and home life.
In response to the original question, is anyone really surprised that the contestants on BB are as thick as a plank?
I have really enjoyed this, not laughed as much in ages.

Cannot believe that some teachers are really this stupid.

Hope your Head teacher is reading this. ( I presume he or she can read)
spock, did u mean Diddlydonk? not so clever as u assume we think!!!!!
Just worked out your username. Stands for double "D"

Your degree I presume.

Thanks for the laugh again.
B's and C's says it all. No wonder you took music as soft option.

Still laughing BTW.
Hi 6758, doesn't matter what we call him, probably can't read as well.
I must look out for more of honytonks post. Great stuff.
BTW where is Australia.
Bet she can play a mean version of londons burning on the recorder.

being proud of your ignorance is nothing to be proud of.

I wouldn't let you book my flight tickets lol
Hi Rev, 2 tickets to Aussie is it. Turn left at Singapore, or is ir right.
I thought it was str8 on after Berlin?

Oh sorry thats Austria
I cannot comprehend how any of you can state that I am not a good Teacher of Music! I ALWAYS research and plan my lessons extremely carefully!

Would you expect a geography teacher to know my subject? You make out like I am the thickest person to walk this earth who has by miracle landed a job in teaching. I have studied music history, including composers and their birth towns/countries, for 9 years. How can you all possibly think so highly of yourselves that you feel entitled to criticise me and my ability to teach music to children?
Its called basic common sense and knowledge and not knowing where a continent is I find quite alarming lol.

Just because I work in an office doesn't mean that I don't know how to strip wallpaper.
You aren't answering my question though. How do any of you, (who in all fairness probably know very little about Music to GCSE level, as most people don't - apologies to those who do) justify stating that I am not capable of teaching music to children?
Diddley....I know people have been unkind on here (including me) but the thing that's a bit scary is that Africa and Australia are such easy places to find....they're huge!!!
I understand what you're saying about your in depth knowledge of your subject area, but I think what some people on AB are struggling with is the concept that you don't have even an elementary understanding of Geography. Do you honestly not know where Australia is? I'm flabbergasted.
Sorry that I was a bit unkind earlier.
Surely all Teachers no matter the subject they teach, should have a basic knowledge of all major subjects, of which geography is one.

Just because you teach music isnt an excuse for not knowing where australia is.

Are you not ever required to cover other subjects in time of illness etc?
Look, if somebody gave me a map, I could point out Austrailia. If somebody asked me to point out America, I could do it. I know how big/small these countries are. I know which countires are/aren't in Europe. I can name the continents. I can point out regions in the UK. My basic Geography isn't so bad that I do not know Austrailia is huge and on the other side of the world!

My whole point in this thread related to the twins' comments last night. They said: "Is Austrailia near Africa?" I couldn't tell you that!!!! I could not say whether Austrailia is near Africa!! Give me a map and I could. But off the top of me head, no! I couldn't! And I'm not ashamed of it either. I've worked hard my whole life to do what I do now and I love it, and any child that comes into my classroom would enjoy and learn. If, as a parent or a tax-payer, that bothers you... I am very sorry.

I entirely see what the problem is when benefit frauds are doing you out of thousands every year for sitting on their backsides.
I feel I should quicky correct my typing mistake before some of you investigate my identity and have me fired.

*My head.

Not 'me head.'
