Trying to fit my new gaming Satnav to the dashboard but it doesn't want to stick. There's a clip lock thing that looks like it secures the sucker to the dash. Any ideas please?

It will secure to the windscreen - which is where most satnavs are designed to be placed.
My TomTom is secured by turning the ring-mount clockwise to activate the sucker to a smooth disc stuck to the dash-board. I find it sticks better if you wet the sucker first.

If it's got a 'sucker' it's designed to fit on the windscreen not the Dash!
Most dashes are textured and not smooth enough, you need to stick it to the screen.

You'll need something like this to fit it on the Dash

My Garmin came supplied with a black disc with adhesive tape on the back that will stick to the dashboard and the sucker can be attached to that. Better than using the windscreen as it doesn't leave a ring for theives to see.
As andy-hughes states the sucker is for the windscreen.

I've got a similar thing for my Garmin but because the windscreen is too far away I got one of these.

Works very well and obviously doesn't leave any marks on the windscreen.
I bought heavy duty stick-on Velcro & a cheap pack of 4 coasters from Morrisons. Stick 1 coaster to your dash & the Satnav holder fits on there a treat.

Thanks all. Going to give the screen a go.

Yes, the sucker sticks best to glass, but the GPS unit must not impede the driver's view. My windscreen slopes away too far for me to reach safely and I don't want to look up to it. Mine is placed on the dashboard top, so it is level with the road ahead, but to the left of centre. I can see round it to the curb and I can see the road, plus the GPS is within my peripheral vision. If I have a passenger, they can also double check our route with prompts at a complicated interchange. I have a self-adhesive dashboard mount that works perfectly, but, as I said in my first post, wetting the sucker gives much better adhesion.
Also remember the tell tale signs on the w/screen which tells the ungodly that somewhere in your vehicle you have a Satnav. I keep an old woolly hat covering my pad on the dash which says ''I wear an old woolly hat''.
Have you tried licking the sucker-thingy ? It works for me !

Sticks to the dash then, does it Mikey, as per the OP?
Gobenn...the sucker thing is designed to stick to the windscreen, not the dash...are you trying to get it to stay on the dash instead ?
