I was just wondering how current songs get on their playlist, as only a few do, and then they play them to death
(eg Deja vu by sia currently, but previously that queen/michael jackson song or meghan trainor etc)

If the tried and trusted method is still adhered to - the producers and some selected presenters discuss and play new releases and arrive at a concensus for the placement of a track in the A, B, or C category which involves heavy, medium, or light rotation on the airwaves.

do they use the same process when selecting "oldies" to play? seems to me from (what's a "hearing word for observation?) that when it comes to certain artists they are - so far as radio is concerned - one hit wonders.

for instance, the only single snow patrol ever released was "chasing cars".
