Hi all

Not a question, just a pointer to say that a new, two-part, adaptation of above is on Radio4 Extra this week. Part 2 was today and part 1 was yesterday so both will be available for a few more days.
I have not read the book but have an idea of the basic plot and this version was enjoyable.
Did anyone else listen?

Having had to read the book in the original Russian as part of my university course in 1972 I had no immediate desire to revisit. Having said that, it is a good social satire on the Russian establishment prior to the Emancipation of the Serfs.

I find Gogol's short stories very good. I did look at the book once but when I realised just how much there is of it I didn't bother. Perhaps I should.
