Further to my previous thread ... I think everyone thinks my cat saved my pup ... in fact it was the young FOX I was talking about ! I thought they were called puppies ... If I had a dog I think my cat would eat it ... He shielded the young fox from the older mother ... Here is my old thread :

predators cannot afford to get injured for no advantage so the will only take on an opponent that they are confident of dealing with efficiently. We used to have foxes and cats in our garden in the UK and they always showed the greatest respect for each other. The magpies though didn't have respect for anything except crows,rooks and unbelievably collar doves. the magpies knew that the foxes and cats couldn't catch them and the foxes and cats knew that too and didn't try to catch them.
