Corrie again!

I know a lot has been written about Corrie here and it's possible this has been mentioned before but I don't understand the storyline with Becky and Steve wanting to adopt.
It was said that people who have been in prison cannot adopt and I thought they have both been in prison at some point in the past, am I wrong?

Not sure, but they would have to also get Tracy's written permission to adopt Amy (which I think is going to be a storyline).

they want to adopt someone new not amy. but yes missprim I didnt get that either, at that meeting they went to I thought they said people in prison couldnt adopt and both have been

Isn't there a distinction with those IN prison and those who HAVE BEEN in prison?
