Availability of cable....

...I dont have cable where I live and Id like to find out if Virgin are ever likely to bring it to my door I am within 7 miles of two major UK cities one to the East and one to the West,not exactly out in the middle of nowhere.Im really after a faster broadband (just 1mb download and 0.3mb upload) but the other features of cable TV would be good...Oh and I dont want Sky...any suggestions anyone?
