Roses are red, Viloets are blue..................how many times have we heard that over the years, but I always thought Violets were violet, not blue. Have I missed something?

Rosies are Red, Violets are Blue. Probably referring to their knickers !

Are there any blue flowers that would fit in with the rhyme?
violet is made up from blue and red, so too much of the blue colour could make it a bluer hue.
Does that make sense?
