I recently fitted white pvc curtain rains, curtains with hooks, and while initially it was fine, after just a week the curtains stick and judder, it's awful. Anyone not doing it with care could easily pull the whole thing down. I've thought of various ways to lubricate the rail, e.g. WD40, butter, vaseline, but all seem messy. Does anyone have more and original ideas ?

here are some things you could try. Clean the rail with a silicone type spray polish (Mr Sheen type, other spray polishes are available) If you can be bothered, take off the curtain hooks and clean them too Rub the rail with a candle and then polish well alternatively, you can buy a silicone lubricant for curtain rails ask at a posh home furnishings emporium near you
hope this doesnt sound daft, and I'm not being rude, as i've had this problem too..but are you using the correct hooks for your curtain rail?
woofgang is on the right trsack. Use furniture polish, but use the old-fashioned stuff that comes in a tin. Rub some on the rail, an everything should be ok.
