Childrens TV show which came before Ivor the Engine

I am trying to remember a kids TV show which was similar to Ivor the Engine but was on the go a good while earlier. All I can remember is that it had something to do with trains and was maybe welsh?
Anyone got any ideas?

Ivor the Engine was first made in black and white for Associated Redifusion in 1959, so would have been on ITV in their Small Time slot.

It was later remade in colour for the BBC in the mid-nineteen seventies.

Hi tonymclark. I'm not looking for info on Ivor the Engine, I am trying to remember the name of a different programme which was similar to it.

So what era are we talking here, 1950's?

I think maybe early 70s?
In my (very vague!) memory, I think of it along the same lines as Noggin the Nog/Ivor the Engine.
