Can anyone remember the programme in which someone said "The moon rises high over the fishmarket", to which the reply was "And there are rats on the golf course"? It's been driving me crazy for years: some folk remember the quote but have no idea what show it was, most folk think I'm barking! Thanks to anyone who can fill the void in my memory.

I can only think of Get Smart but that was US
Well I am of an age when I can remember 1960s comedy shows, but I cant place that quote.

I remember Get Smart (Mel Brooks helped write it though I did not know that at the time) and it does sound like a sort of spy quote.

Can you remember anything else about the quote ?

Was it definately English? Could it be a Radio show ?
Can you remember anyone in the show ?, or what it may have been about ?

Maybe Marty Feldman?, sound like his sort of thing ?

Or Peter Cook and Dudley Moore ?
Carry On Spying maybe?

Jim Dale in various disguises asking people those sort of quotes and giving the reply "Cafe Mozart 12' O Clock ( or something similar ).
Sounds like something Tony Hancock might say ...only guessing
