I'd like to get a job as a TV reporter, but I've watched TV news bulletins on BBC, ITV and Sky and (no exaggeration) most of their reporters are Asian. As I'm not Asian, what chance do I have of becoming a TV reporter? Any advice?

Oh, and does anyone know why there are so many Asian reporters on UK TV?
How many reporters did you see over what period and how many were "Asian?"
Yes, you'll have to become asian. But don't worry, you can claim the cost of the operation back against tax.

over the last year, I reckon I've seen 60% are Asian - including BBC Breeakfast this morning. BBCTV even has an Asian soccer presenter and an Asian tennis reporter and I can't say I've ever heard of Asians being successful playing either sport
Goodness me tv is going downhill rapidly if the BBC " even has an Asian soccer presenter and an Asian tennis reporter"

What is the world coming to eh?

The non-whites should be restricted to the radio or, if they HAVE to be on tv, they should be filmed fae behind so their colour is hidden.

If their accents have any hint of an Asian twang, their report should be voiced by a native-born English person.

Does the BNP have its own tv station?
Just LOOK at all these Asian faces employed by Sky for example - simply LOADS of them (I make it a whopping 2 out of 71, but I may have miscounted). ;-)

Come on now, those pictures could be days out of date and you know fine well they could have employed loads of "Asians" in the meantime...
True. I do have my suspicions about their new business correspondent, Osama Bin Smith.
so you're saying English people should report the World Cup on account of England are so successful at it??
I don't know about that, but the ladies are always very very tasty, in the same way that radio presenters have sexy voices like Sarah Cordy on LBC 1152 at the moment, and the Sports presenter Katie Murrells, who enchantingly says foine and toime, she must be from Nottingham.
There's not enough English tennis reporters, considering how good they are at that sport...

You have no chance of becoming a reporter if you are a racist.
I don't know! Whatever is the world coming to? Why, they'll buying businesses and becoming MPs before we know it!

That is such a childish question, flipnflap, and if you really do want to be a TV reporter, I'd suggest you post in Jobs & Education. The truth is that anyone with good spoken English and a decent education can apply/audition to be a TV reporter. Asian reporters are often sent to Asian countries and communities because they happen to know the culture and speak the local languages.

Also, Asian people happen to become TV reporters because they're rather good at it. I know I'd rather listen to Priya Kaur Jones over Eamon Holmes any day. At least I can understand what she's talking about.

What next ! They'll be employing women reporters too, soon !
Employ women? Women? Employ? My God, pass the smelling salts quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And don't start me on old people ! Have you seen the age of some of those reporters !
rofl @ TCL, I'd quite happily support the abolishment (that a word?) of women working, i'm clearly not cut out for it. I'm more the sitting on my big bum eating cakes all day type of gal.

Is there a petition to get the ball rolling so to speak?
I know what you mean about the old folk, some of them are 25 if they're a day!
What a stupid question.
Whatever you do,don't watch CBBC.
