I'd like to know who Ally McCoist replaced as team captain on A Question of Sport?

was it the late Sir Emlyn Hughes?

In 1996 Ally McCoist and John Parrott replaced outgoing team captains Bill Beaumont and Ian Botham (who was himself Emlyn's replacement).

If I remember correctly, Ally sits the same side of the studio as 'Beefy' Botham did (on the right - or Sue's left).
