We're running our own version of Celebrity Fit/Fat Club at work for charity.
We're being sponsered to lose weight. Those willing are to be divided into 2 teams, having a weigh in each week and the winning team with the most weight lost will be announced on the 21st December. So I have 4 weeks to lose as much weight as possible.
I've volunteered to be on one team. I've booked a session with a trainer at my gym and am trying to fit lots of classes in (they're started pole dancing ones!!!). Anyone got any ideas about other things I can do, good diets and other weight loss tips etc...
Sorry, Goody Two Shoes ette, surely there is not a diet inthe world that would advocate cutting some fruits. ALL fruits, even dried ones are natures little elixiars. There may be higher calories in some fruits but they are all good calories!!!
when I was doing a weight loss challenge I took fibogel for the last couple of weeks of the challenge (as well as watching what I was eating) and that seemed to do the trick (my team won!). Also it's not an unhealthy thing to do - you are just upping your fibre intake.
May even get a personal trainer for a few weeks and see how it goes.
Dairy sounds like a good idea. Only drink skimmed milk anyway and I suppose giving up chocolate isn't to much of a pain as it's for charity. Want to cut right down on bread and such too.
I love my fruit, have a fresh fruit smoothie everyday since a new cafe opened near work and can eat a whole punnet of grapes in one sitting.
Fibogel is fibre powders you drink in a glass of water. It can help keep you regular if you know what I mean. It probably helps you lose weight because it keeps things moving! You can buy it in supermarkets or chemists.
if you drink a few cups of nettle tea each day as well that will help too.
There are plenty of diets that advocate cutting some fruits namely the GI index diet, one which is has been adopted by many people but intended for diabetics. Watermelon for example, tastes like nothing, full of sugar.
melon schmelon. Melons are good for you!!!! Sugar does not make you fat. FAT makes you FAT. Sugar, particularly fructose (in fruits) will burn off easily.
I am sorry but any diet that tells you to cut out fruit, is hokus pokus. As a nation we should be eating more fruit!!!
when bananas and melons are higher than table sugar on the glycaemic index then maybe its worth baring in mind. I though and I maybe wrong, that your body could onyl produce enough insulin to deal with about 500 calories worth of sugar, before it started sticking it in your fat storage.
