Can anyone think of a book or film prequel that has been any good?

Example: Anyone remember 'First of the Summer Wine'?

I have asked this question in answer to another question here

I remember "First of the summer wine". Can't say I was a big fan of it (Mind you, I'm not really a fan of it's daddy" but two things I distintly remember were (1) Compo's teeth, which were so disgusting they made you feel sick and (2) how the ORIGINAL third member of the trio, played my Michael Bates (I think) was conveniently forgotten.

The only film prequel I can think of being any good was "Indiana Jones & The temple of doom".
Godfather 2 wasn't bad!!!
when you say Godfather 2 do you mean as a prequel to Godfather 3 or the fact that the robert de niro part was a prequel to The Godfather???

My favourite prequels are:

Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd
Red Dragon----Silence of the lambs

and of Course Star wars episode 1 Phantom Menace
Strictly speaking, Red Dragon wasn't a prequel, as it had already been made (under a different name, Manhunter) way before Silence of the Lambs.
The Robert de Niro bit.
I remember once watching a special episode of Eastenders, where they had a lot of the older characters as youngsters during the blitz. A young (and alive) Reg Cox and a very attractive Ethel Skinner - the Flower of Albert Square, as she was known, because she sang to them all in the shelters.
Batman Begins
Yeh Batman Begins was brilliant and better than the 4th. I think Ghotbusters 2 was better than the first. Garfield 2 whats the point and Underworld Everloution f***ing brill!!!!!!!!
