Am I pegnant?

I had sex with my husband for the first time 2 weeks ago.Because he has been away since than we have not had sex again.It has been 1 and a half weeks now since my last period was due.I was wondering if anyone knew what the chance was I was pregnant and what else could be causing me to miss my periods.

I would say you are not pregnant. I went through a few weeks of wanting a baby and stupidly had one go at artifical insemination 2 weeks ago.I missed my last period but I know I am not pregnant as I do not feel pregnant and have not been sick at all. Just because you have missed a period does not mean you are pregnant.There are many reasons why a woman would miss a period other than pregnany.I am going to the Doctors if my next period doesn't come to find out what is wrong with me.Maybe you should do the same.That said 2% of people who have sex for the first time get pregnant so that is actually quite a large number if you think of it.Anyway I have rambled enough.Hope you find out if you are soon.Bye.

I am sorry but if you had artifical insemination and have missed a period I think that is a good indication that you ARE pregnant.I think you should at least think of the possibility. It seems to me you are young and perhaps you were a bit immature and now you may be literally left holding the baby.If I were you I would go to the doctors now and if you are pregant than you can consider if you want to keep it.Thanks for answering my question though.

Well I am sorry but I KNOW I am not pregnant.I just don't feel pregnant.Anyway I would NEVER abort my baby even if I was.I could never do that to my baby even if I felt like it. If I am pregnant than I will have to have it and decided what to do then. Anyway aside from all that I am NOT pregnant so have nothing to worry about.I doubt I would get pregnant first time round.I am not pregnant and that is final.Anyway back to your question.You are upsetting me now.Tryng to worry me.If you are going to be like this you shouldn't have bothered registering.

amy have you used a pregnancy test at all? It is a possibilty that you could be pregnant, most fertile time of month is middle of cycle but it is possible.

Other factors can cause you to miss a period, being unwell, underweight, stressed etc. I once missed mine for 5 months and was not pregnant.

The only way you are going to be able to tell is by doing a test.

And russian, go get a test. How do you know what being pregnant feels like? and being sick isnt a definate for pregnancy as you must surely know, being a med student. I wasnt sick once during my pregnancy.

It is possible you are pregnant amykyle ~ I would doubt it though unless you have a wayward cycle as ovulation is generally around 14 days before your period is due. This can fluctuate though!

Stress can cause a period to be delayed ~ I would recommend a visit to the Docs just to put your mind at rest :o)

As for sexyrussian, do you know how it feels to be pregnant? sickness certainly isn't always a symptom and I can guarantee that with my first pregnancy I didn't know what 'feeling pregnant' was!

Well I guess you have a point there.Since I have never been pregnant I cannot possibly know how it feels.I am sorry amykyle. I am just a bit stressed at the moment.I won't get a test though I think it is better not to know.I really don't want to be pregnant.Anyway didn't mean to spoil your thread.

I had no sickness whatsoever when I was pregnant. Sexyrussian you really ought to find out the facts and how immature is it to 'go through a few weeks of wanting a baby' and have a go at artificial insemination? Go buy yourself a doll to play with.

russian, you cant stick your head in the sand. if you are pregnant then you have to find out immediately so that you cant start to take folic acid etc and watch what you eat and drink.

2 weeks ago you were desperate to be pregnant and tried to inseminate. You ought to test so that if you are you can come to terms with the result (or not) of your actions.

I really thing that you ought to go and get a test. The stress of not knowing if youre pregnant or not may delay your period further. And as i said before its best to know as soon as possible if you are so that you can check your diet and folic acid intake

I was very stupid I know.I guess I have no common sense but I REALLY wanted a baby.I just thought they were fat and cuddly and would be great to have one. However I soon came to my senses and realised that it was better to wait until my studies have finished.Unfortunately I only realised that perhaps too late.That said I really do not think I am pregnant my second period was due yesterday and I am usually late so if I miss this one I will go to the doctor than.I probobly have something else wrong with me.

I agree with redcrx, you could very well be pregnant and taking a test is the next step to be sure and as for sexyrussian :-)

Thanks everyone. I think I might as well get a test to put my mind at rest.The problem is I did not expect to get pregnant so soon and am totally ignorant of the basics of bringing up the baby.I guess if I am pregnant I will have time to read up on it.My parents will be delighted.As for sexyrussian.I feel that she probobly needs advice aswell and therefore I have no problem with you offering advice to her or anyone else for that matter.In fact it helps me to know someone else is the a similar situation.

amy if you are pregnant then youll have 9 months to read all the books on bringing up a baby as you can. Only problem is that no baby is same as in a text book. Thats what makes them special and why mummys love their children no matter what.

Yes I know thank you! It is my birthday soon and hopefully I can have a pomeranian and they are so cute and cuddly.They are alive which is even better.I will miss it though when I have to go back to University.Anyway going backto the subject.I hope the result is the one you wanted and as redcrx said(can't believe I am agreeing with her) tell us what the result was if you want.
