Can anyone over 43 remember listen to the radio at school and learning to sing songs. We did at my school and we had to share a booklet - sometimes between 3 that had the words

we did but more than that i remember listening to a radio programme about the beginning of the world, the narrator was describing how it happened, wierd!

Yes, I remember those radio programmes.


I can't remember the titles of any of the shows, but I remember asking to keep some of the booklets with the music and lyrics, as they featured Doctor Who.

I can also remember Drama workshops on the radio when we had to do movement to the music. I was once choosen to be St George by the nuns that taught us as I was even better than the boys.

Yes, The geography programme, great to just shut your eyes, listen to the story and the noises and let your imagination run riot. All those places seemed so far away in the 1950's . I remember as well the music, listening to Peter and the Wolf, and Pier Gynt
..I am 37 and I remember learning the songs from the radio, speed bonny boat (sky boat song).. and dayo/ banna song?...spring to mind...where they obsessed by boats at the bbc in '74?...
'Singing Together' was the title, 11:00 on Mondays if I remember correctly! The one about the beginning of the world was 'How Things Began'. The drama one was 'Movement and Music'.

As already stated the programme would have been Singing Together. Until recently I had copies ( may still find a couple ) of the original booklets in my school. Sometimes they followed a topic or theme with related songs.

I can remember a song that went ' oh music such music they play sweet melodies haunt the ear for the songs that are tender and gay all paris is waiting to hear' - I think this was about Toulous Le Trec or something. Then there was one about Donkey riding and a gospel like one called Mary had a baby (yes lord)
