Obviously the PM tears Rodders a new one as usual but for me the most amusing moment was after the PM sat down the speaker then anounced the leader of the SNP. To which most of them scarpered in all directions PMSL!

I only watched the pomp and pageantry. Parliament tends to lose its lustre once politicians get in on the act.

Sorry if im in the wrong here, but i would prefer a much slimmed down HoP and the total abolishment of the HoL.The Chinese government has less members for millions more people.

China, a regime we can only dream of.

"The Chinese government has less members for millions more people."

How to rubbish your own argument in a simple sentence ;-)

My old dad had a saying-"a worse state than China"-meaning a total FUBAR state of affairs. Now China is the biggest capitalist state in the world after the USA.Where did the UK go wrong,Duggie?

@16.08.How so,Ichy?

I don't know but do tell.

Do you still not want me to be paying rent for living rent-free in your head Duggie?

Here's a great example of a representative democracy: the PRC.

Or was it irony

Seems to me to be a capitalist country controlled by a bunch of anti-capitalist socialists/communists,Ichy.China used to be a basket case failed state. Now it is the second wealthiest country in the world.Even Xia doesnt seem to be much of a friend of your arch-enemy Putin anymore.

Is this king's speech. Sunaks last desperate attempt for the Tories, who are about to face oblivion, to go out in a blaze of Glory.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 lol

One might hope that getting a government identical to the Chinese government was something everyone would want to avoid like the plague.

Oh, and very clearly China is not capitalist. The government controls the strings of every apparently free enterprise there. It is a tyranical communist state.

Indeed, batty.

Okay,so not China then. How about the USA,a bigger population, but a lot less representatives.Something like 435 members in congress and something like 100 members in the senate.

I'm not sure America has a political system we should aspire to either.

all sorts of things

1. yes you are wrong ( again)

2. HOL abolition - to make parliament unicameral - tried in Ireland 1935-40 - not a success. Gives untrammeled power to one person. In this case de Valera. This is not now rated a wild success. See also any tin pot dictatorship in Africa

3. abolishment =   abolition - see 2

4. Chinese govt not an advantage if you are one of the governed

other than that, I agree it is a plan

o god there will be squawking. I used 'unicameral'

The Beeb hacks were appallingly primed to talk about the Kings Speech and worse over the 1951 last one.

They just sort of rose from their beds and went on air.

There was a lot about the lardy-dah and very little aboutthe content of the King Speech, which sounded very end-of-termy.

Leashold reform  ( "change in the leasehold system", the Beeb info-bar writer had it) seemed not to have been thought out
