He is stepping down from the Soap Awards. I wonder if he thinks his popularity is dwindling? I do hope so.
As Eamonn Holmes says on Twitter this evening: "Schofield has finally been caught out ... But he's not the only guilty party. 4 high members of Itv management knew what sort of man he was ...and NEVER once took action to prevent him controlling or taking advantage of his position over young people."
He played the gay card and it worked for a while.

If a 47 year old straight man, met a 10 year old girl at 47 and later at the age of 12 took her out for pop n crisp, then later gave them a job and later still started a relationship with her, he would be out on his ear pronto. He would be labelled a dirty filthy scumbag ***.

Phil says his decision to start a relationship with the boy was 'unwise but legal'

I say he is morally corrupt.

Spungle, Eamonn Holmes obviously knew about the sordid affair when he cuddled Scholfield when he came out.
Yes, it seems that way Roy. But the rot obviously goes to the top of ITV.
Yes, he was protected by the hierarchy at ITV.
Does this in any way affect actions and statements on the Libel...overzealous Moderating thread?
Usual response from AB that old must have nothing to do with young. Old equals perverted.
Other ABers have said in defence of politicians that it wasn't illegal so it's alright then. Schofield says it wasn't illegal, but the prurient press say it's not alright then. How can those people (uni education and some literacy skill) who once may have thought they were in an honorable profession (bringing truth and news to the people) live with themselves?
Oh! It's the paypacket of course.

Back to the drawing board for Kevin Lygo:

Kevin Lygo, ITV's managing director of media and entertainment, said: 'Phillip is hands down one of the best broadcasters of his generation and we thank him for his two decades worth of absolutely terrific television on the This Morning sofa.

'This Morning is made by one of the best and most diligent teams in television, who produce over 12 hours of live television each week.

'We look forward to continuing our relationship with Phillip starting with The British Soap Awards in June and a brand new peak time series to come.'

Considering Lygo's support of him I do wonder why Schofield has resigned from ITV. Was he anxious about how he would be received at the Soap Awards or some other possible revelation?
Eamonn a Ruth though they were there thinking Scrotefield was going to announce his retirement.
"one of ITVs biggest stars" - what exactly is he a star of? He is only a presenter (or was).
He's gone. Now there's just Willoughby to go.
laughable mod-ing.

douglas9401 ‘Does this in any way affect actions and statements on the Libel...overzealous Moderating thread?’

It must be just ‘opinion’ Doug. Go figure.

Actually, don’t, it’s not worth the braincells.
god why are the demented deleters deleting posts?
Schofield has admitted lying so any civil action is a complete non starter

as for covering up, think of Kray, boothby and Macmillan
those were the days
royfromaus although your comparison was hypothetical, the inference you expect others to take from it is at odds with Schofield's statement tonight in which he said "Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager..."

I have no idea where you're getting your information from but it's not accurate and you have to stop making potentially libellous statements or you will be suspended.
No doubt Schofe has said this because someone else was about to.

I read that ITV were worried a celebrity guest or staff member was going to ask him about this on live TV, which may explain why he was suddenly removed.
The libel mod thread has turned out to be like a demo in 1984

They are told they are at war with their previous allies and are OK with ripping up mid-demo placards praising their now-enemies

still all in a week end on AB
He’s getting it from the BBC!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-65729361#:~:text=%22Contrary%20to%20speculation%2C%20whilst%20I,was%20unwise%2C%20but%20not%20illegal.

Easily searchable.

Jesus, is this seriously the level of moderation on this site?
