I take water up to bed every night as I like to take my tablets and subsequent some glasses of water.

I need a new one but want a smaller one. However this very old jug of mine doesn't tell me what litre it is.

I measured it roughly top to bottom and across and it is 9" x 8". Would that be 1.8litre or what. Thanks for any answers.

Why not take a wander around the shops and see what you fancy?

Looking on Amazon, small ones come up as 500ml...about 2 cups. Is that too small?
Jeez maggie...did you have to answer?
How about filling it to your desired level and emptying into a vessel of known volume eg empty milk bottle etc. Or, weigh the water it contains because 1 kilo weight equals 1 litre water.
Need the diameter to estimate how much it holds

Pasta - I can see what Maggie is trying to say.

sorry maggiebee - I'm sorry I am so like yourself as I am despondent too and so RH could not be bothered wandering around shops for a measly jug - just want to order online and get rid.

Assuming it's a roughly cylindrical jug, I would estimate it's something between 6.5 and 9.5 litres, depending on whether you measured the inside or the outside. That does feel to me to be too large. But if you have a measuring jug anywhere, you can also find out by filling it up and seeing how many times you can fill your measuring jug from it.
Amazon have loads of pretty water jugs have a look and see what takes your fancy
I think we should all have a cup of tea and start over again. This is how jj uses AB, and why not ..?
I just wish people would learn to bite their tongues and try to be NICE...is it that difficult?

maggie - do think I ask questions probably way out of your league as they have been technical lately especially regarding that Full Fibre thing that I hope you will never come through.

Nothing is going right and yes it is so fabulous to be able to hear and Telephone yourself NOT. Be very very grateful you have your hearing and listen out for Option 1 press this option 3 press this - then me, I give up and hang up.

so sorry if asking about a simple jug bothers - sorry again.
No need for that, maggiebee. That's nasty.

I buy bottled water, JJ, and always keep one on the bedside table.
// I would estimate it's something between 6.5 and 9.5 litres//
i'm a big bloke and would struggle to pick that up?
Feel better soon Maggie
Don't apologise jj...just be you...and ask away.

rh - not looking for pretty - who said that - bye anyway - off to get help elsewhere.
Its not nasty - i suspect that Maggie is frustrated
Yeah, that's why I was surprised at the answer, but I can't really say anything else based on jj's measurements. Maybe she never fills it all the way?

Still, the point is that it's a large jug, so yeah if you aim for around a 2 litre jug jj, you'll be sure to have a smaller one that this one.
