I love looking at unusual interiors...even more so with the story of their occupants.
These are particularly weird and wonderful to me as they are New York.

is that actually a person in the top one, or a mannequin?

I'd love Gerald DeCock's flat, I'd love Laurie Anderson's view, but I could live without Sur's phallus collection.

A person...I think
Phallus collection???...!
I suspect Gerald DeCock's flat is a studio with a "loft" bed. I wonder if that's his real name?
Fascinating and amazing how many favour so much clutter in a small place.
Great photos, wonderful rooms.

They are all very retro though, to the point of being samey. Has none of them not embraced the 21st century?
Question Author
I think New Yorkers are hoarders by nature. And flea markets used to be a hobby for many back in the day...a chance to buy cheap and weird trinkets.
/// amazing how many favour so much clutter ///

That was my view too. Do they call it Maximumist I wonder !
Question Author
Sunk...many of them are in the Village and lower Manhattan...areas with plenty of older housing stock.
Question Author
Canary...you're close. It's called maximalism...for real.
Thanks pastafreak, I wasn't aware of that, so I've learnt something new today :-)

The message seems to be, the weirder you are, the more rubbish you can cram into a small living space.
Question Author
That's one viewpoint.
Good god, you’d need sunglasses just to live in those rooms lol
i couldn't live in a place like that, too much for the brain to take in.
Dreadful places. Hardly relaxing
Being quite minimalist those rooms are quite cluttery and scary! Lol

I'm more of a modernist and prefer light and pale colours. When I was viewing houses last year there was one with a completely black kitchen. The units, tiles, cooker etc were all black. It was a small kitchen and I felt claustrophobic and couldn't wait to get out.
I love those pics, especially the bathroom cum dining room. Mad as heck.
i love colour but not all that jumble.
Funny old game when Laurie Anderson's the normal one. :-)
love to see Gerald DeCock's place once he's got his christmas decorations up . . .
