I’ve just watched the two programmes and although I had doubts about it, it was very moving and entertaining.

Anybody agree?

Barsel....I bet I have loads of cousins I don't know about. Much closer than these two are.
I have always known all my first cousins and their children, but I don't think I'd be interested in finding any 'cousins' who share some of my DNA that goes back to the Vikings, would seem weird to me.
I'm going to watch this on catch up.

If you think about it you only have to go back 6 generations and you've possibly got 126 direct ancestors. In one of my lines that's only the early 19th century.
You're from the Fens, Barmaid, you have far fewer direct ancestors than that!! ;o)
Lol Jack. I can't argue with that on one lot. Sends my family history software into meltdown.
We would probably find ourselves related to a Viking if we did the DNA tests, I seem to recall reading that a large number of people are descended from Charlemagne.
I quite enjoyed the programme but it did *reach* a little in terms of connections.
I have been tracing my family tree for the past 20 years and have made some fascinating discoveries. I think I peaked when I found my Mum's 2 half-sisters (they are now in regular contact).

Although, I knew what the final payoff was likely to be, I also thought the connection would be much closer and more recent.
Legally; probably just about enough difference in format to Who Do You Think You Are? for the BEEB not to consider any court action.
Actually, a complete rip-off of said BEEB programme.
I've just watched them on catch up. Got me really interested in dna with genealogy.

As a point of interest Mr BM and I have a common ancestor. We are 6 cousins once removed.
///What a spiteful old bu&&er you are!///

Come on Naomi, unlike you to hold back, say what you really think LOL - incidentally, I do agree with you which is quite rare ;-)

I think Theland's just upset they didn't go right back to Adam and Eve, from whom we all are descended of course.
