Me too, bobbi. Why stick a specific label on the doll? It's a doll. It can be whatever the child wants it to be.

We don't have to accept anything, nothing we can do if they are dispensing with the labels, except not buy their toys.

We always had gender neutral toys growing up. Maybe my mum was way ahead of her time.

In all seriousness, she bought us what we'd play with. My son was obsessed with Polly Pockets...so that's what he got. I agree that children shouldn't be discouraged from playing with something aimed at the opposite sex.

I'm in two minds really, obviously children can play with whatever they like, so it may be better not to separate them... but in reality, it will only inconvenience the majority of parents, if they can't find what they want.

I ummed and ahhed (SP) about getting Little Tiggs the Lego Friends collection which I think is aimed at girls, but then I thought, why not. I'll get him whatever he likes the look of and it makes it easier when I run out of ideas escpecially for Xmas and birthday pressies.

Of course they should be allowed to choose that's why we don't need separate sections for them to browse toys.

It's more parents' time, I'm thinking of mamya. With 2 girls and 2 boys, we had all options available and nobody was ever encouraged or discouraged to play with any of them. In spite of that... and also when I worked at a preschool, it is still more common how it is now (which is why it started that way).
If I am looking for my granddaughter this Christmas, birthday and end up walking down aisles of soldiers constantly, I will just come back and order from Amazon x
