I suppose one of the main reasons they have a voice is because of their success in their chosen profession.
Why is it odd? Does wealth stop people caring?
What I find odd is that the exact same things were happening when Obama was president ... and yet ...........

But then doesnt their success go some way to disproving their assertion - anyone can achieve a good life if they try hard enough surely.
Trump is a moron....period....and using this to exploit the fact that his son in law is no better than Hilary when it comes to using unauthorised e-mails. The US NFL put enormous effort and sums of money into supporting disadvantaged communities and probably far more than our Premier League does......
They are not the sportsmen complaining - they are the sportsmen you can hear complaining - wealth does that.

And as advised, wealth doesn't always erode a social conscience, and willingness to speak out because your wealth and fame means you are listen to.
CatC...people can't magic sporting talents.
CAC - //But then doesnt their success go some way to disproving their assertion - anyone can achieve a good life if they try hard enough surely. //

No, not everyone can achieve a good life if they try hard enough.

As well as trying hard enough, they need huge amounts of talent, a massive sense of work ethic, and a seriously large amount of coincidences that put them in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the breaks that come their way - that don't come to everyone who works just as hard.
I get fed up with people complaining that people are disadvantaged. Women are disadvantaged, the obese are disadvantaged, young people are disadvantaged, foreigners are disadvantaged, old people are disadvantaged..... the disadvantaged are disadvantaged.......
I'm sure the black Football players and the black musicians are well aware of their good fortune. However, those are the two areas in which they are 'allowed' to succeed; black Americans are seriously under-represented in other areas of 'social and professional' success.

The argument that black Americans are just as likely to shoot each other doesn't excuse or explain the seeming indifference towards the number of black people shot and killed by their Police officers. And 'that' is what these protests are about.
I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage ma'am. :)

To whom are you addressing your point?

Wasn't there indifference towards the number of black people shot and killed by Police officers when Obama was president or has this indifference only just begun?
You'll have to ask the folks protesting, Talbot.
ygritte, //there speaks the voice of white middle class england //

Indeed. You’ll find a lot of plain common sense in white middle class England.

yes and you will find some damned fools as well.... ( kinda thx to the Duke of Wellington)
The numbers of black people killed by American cops has been consistent for the last 3 years ...
3X as many unarmed white people are shot by US police.
Just saying.
