As well as trying hard enough, they need huge amounts of talent, a massive sense of work ethic, and a seriously large amount of coincidences that put them in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the breaks that come their way - that don't come to everyone who works just as hard.

I'm sure the black Football players and the black musicians are well aware of their good fortune. However, those are the two areas in which they are 'allowed' to succeed; black Americans are seriously under-represented in other areas of 'social and professional' success.
The argument that black Americans are just as likely to shoot each other doesn't excuse or explain the seeming indifference towards the number of black people shot and killed by their Police officers. And 'that' is what these protests are about.
