Last night ITV showed the first episode of Houdini and Doyle.
If you want to see the rest of the series you have to subscribe to Sky to watch it on ITV Encore

I think it's outrageous.

I was thankfully tipped off by reading the write up in the RT , so didn't watch knowing I would not be able to continue.

It's an awful thing to do IMO.
I agree with both of you. Though i have recorded it because i read somewhere that this first episode was a complete story and not the beginning of a ten part plot. In which case, it may prove to be a decent hours tv.
Marketing's always outrageous.
I don't think that there's anything wrong in ITV's tactics. They want people to watch ITV Encore and this is an attempt to make that happen. Those of us savvy enough were quite aware this was the case....

Yes, I was aware of it before broadcast but many weren't.
So we all subscribe to Sky to watch the remainder of the series. Then we discover that there are some great programmes on the Sky channels and we don't need to watch ITV ever again. Yep, i can see how that works:-/
By all means advertise Encore and how to pay to watch it but don't start a series on a channel included in the licence fee and add the rest on an extra pay to view channel.

Bunch of c*ooks.

. . .or pay £6.99 per month (with no contract) to view it, together with 10 other channels, via a Now TV box.

Now TV is a Sky service, Buenchico.
From the small piece I saw, before switching over, we are not missing much.

And yes hc4361 Now TV is a Sky service, no one is disputing that fact, and that is why one can watch ITV Encore and some other Sky programmes for £6.99 per month.
Agreed - Pay to View TV should be shown on Pay to View Channels, not mainstream.
I take the medium package from Sky which, with HD, gives me more programmes than I will ever watch, Grand prixs, box sets all for the price of the Daily Mail each day. not a bad deal I think.
A package of your choice for £? pm + £14.99 for the Now TV Box, no?
Question Author
Good for you, but there are still many people unable to get any sort of Sky service.
I bought my own box to get more storage ( 2GB )
I appreciate there are good deals to be had out there but that isn't the crux of this - I and all other licence payers too pay for ITV if they are showing a series it should be the whole series , not simply the first episode.
Looking at this I`m surprised if there are still areas that cant get Sky.

They probably get a backhander for doing it Mamma
Someone will yes.
