He was a Disney character, but he's vanished from recent versions, and I wondered why.

He was a Disney 'add on' to give a more 'American' slant to the Pooh stories.
He was not in the books by A A Milne or the illustrations which were the source of all the other characters . He did not prove popular even leading to protests about the Disney version being untrue to the original story so he was dropped.
