I now know this is in the wrong category! Re Cider - I did say to my husband that perhaps one needed to read the book first.
I agree about reading the book first. The trouble is the dramatisation often disappoints. The Inspector Morse books and Agatha Christie novels are far more enthralling than the subsequent televising. I remember a few years ago looking forward to a dramatisation of Christie's 'Murder Is Easy', one of her very few crime novels not to feature either Poirot or Miss Marple. I rate it as her best work, a real page turner, yet on TV Miss Marple was written into the story. It was rather tame and the ending was nothing like the cliffhanger one in the book.
The father never came back, nor did they bother with him again.
