Anyone see this on Monday BBC3. Do you think it was representative of your average Russian? He claimed over 50% are anti immigration for example.

I think a better opening question would be to canvass ABers to find out if they've ever - and knowingly - given a Russian the time of day, let alone find out their views on the level of topics like xenophobia.

lol

I just watched it. Are over 50% of Russians anti immigration?
Yes. That is probably a vast understatement. And although ultimately the fanatics shown in the film are a minority they are encouraged by the current insane ultra nationalist mood in the country generally
In many ways the scariest person in the film was the fashion model with the gun as she is actually an official icon no doubt approved by the Kremlin
Reggae Yates is a brave guy
Why would they want immigration when they support leaders hell bent on recreating their glory days by taking over neighbouring countries ?

Yes of course I've given Russians I've met 'the time of day' and more. Most folk are reasonable types, those I've met seemed so.
It is immigrants, as the film pointed out well, who build modern Russia, who do the jobs they can't fill. 11 million of them at least.
But the racism and xenophobia is staggering. The Congolese chap who had been carved up went to the hospital for treatment and when the doctor saw he was black told the nurse to 'give him a needle and thread and let him sow himself up'
