well I'm in the minority here but I did not like it at all. After watching 'Banished' the other night this was not a patch on it,either story line or acting. Lots of galloping along the cliffs, tight bodices and iffy accents, far more violence than necessary -yes ok poldark is a roughie toughie but did Special Effects have to prove this to viewers in such a graphic manner? They must have got a Job Lot of fake blood there was far too much. The actress playing Elizabeth is really going to grate and demelza -sorry but no....I will watch it again to see if it gets any better but the first episode was a bit of a let down for me..

I feel a bit like Retrochic. I was too young to appreciate the original Poldark but I thought I`d give it a bash. The scenery didn`t stun me because I`m from the SW anyway so that was no big deal. As usual the accents were terrible and as usual, SW people were portrayed as simpletons. I did enjoy it but I think that was because Ross Poldark was so incredibly handsome. If he was played by anyone else, I probably wouldn`t bother.
In the television trailer for this show I thought I saw Warren Clarke. If it was him this could have been his last role.
Sandyroe -yes warren clarke has a rather important role as Poldark's Uncle. I don't know how they will replace him as the character he plays does not die off (I don't think so anyway)
It was probably recorded some time ago and is all safely in the can.
I was thinking of further series Sandy -but I suppose they will just replace the character with a different actor.
I loved it. I never watched the original series but I think this looks like it's going to be fab. To tell the truth, I'm still here fanning myself ;)
I pulled a face and said ''not that old series again''.But I have to admit that after not wanting to lose face and watching it from behind the computer screen ,I enjoyed it. The only bit that marred it for me was ''the child''. She looked about 20yrs old.Roll on the next episode
andres -she has to look about 20 because in a few episodes time he'll be in bed with her.....
I can just vaguely recall bits from the original as it was so long ago, but I'm liking this already.
Excuse the vagueness but when they were all sitting at the table in Warren Clarke's house, who was the timid looking girl (I didn't catch the character name) her face is so familiar but I can't think of her name
I remember watching it vaguely but never thought Robin Ellis was handsome -I thought Ralph Bates was much better looking and he was the baddy which was much more exciting
Mago I think the actress you are talking about was in the post office in Lark Rise To Candleford?
Sorry Margo,these blooming keys!
Just googled it she played Minnie along with Dorcas.
Thanks very much Vakayu, it's been driving me mad. Mago xx
Its the talk of the office here or rather I should say he is
Glad to help Margo it was bothering me last night as well when I saw her lucky I managed to place where I recognised her from although I could not remeber her name!
Vakayu - just looked her up. Ruby Bentall is her name and she is the daughter of Janine Duvitski , who was in Abagail's Party. She is very like her Mother isn't she?
