Was the photo that was given to the French CID, of the guy that had been beat up, the 2nd husband of the missing boys mother?

Talk about twist and turns in this thriller, love it.

I don't know who the man was apart from he was the same man she was talking to at the hospice. The story jumps about a bit so maybe his relevance will become clear next week.
I thought that when the French detective was looking at the photos of the 'beaten up man' he said to the liaison officer he was looking at photos of 'Hughes'? When Tony was on his phone later - he said to the person at the other end ' Is that ? Hughes? I'm trying to trace everyone who live in the street (of the house that had the picture the boy had drawn on the wall) So maybe he used to live there - he looked a bit shifty to me!
Cant make my mind up - everyone seems guilty! What about that property dealer?
I don't think so trt. As Ratty2E says, he looks like the one she was talking to at the hospice when she was visiting her Dad and she was there with her second husband and his son James.
I don't know who beat him up and I don't know why her 2nd husband is lying to her about the phone calls from her first husband.
Hope it doesn't get any more complicated as I'm having trouble following it as it is.
I found last night's episode so confusing, I'll have to watch it again, so many new people who looked similar to each other. The cryptic comment from the journalist at the end was interesting, seemed to be adding the possibility of their, the parents', involvement.
Thank goodness it's not just me then......I know I knit or sew when watching TV but I can usually follow a plot.......
Last night I kept having to rewind because I was confused.....x
Me too gness, it's one of those programmes you just cant watch while on AB at the same time, I'm really losing it, especially with the constant switch of time periods. I really need to start from the beginning with 100% concentration.
I am having trouble keeping up too.

Here is a link to the characters. Click on each name for a short description.

Prudie....You can't do anything but watch....and probably take notes can you?

I think I may have to watch last night's episode again......I'm enjoying it and want to know how it ends....but it's so hard just to sit and stare!

Perhaps I'll knit a simple Missing rug that I can do without following a pattern until it's finished....☺
Thank you, Winner.....That's helpful...I may have to keep it beside me for reference...x
In a write-up on this series online it says 'With the timeline flipping between present day and the year of Oliver’s disappearance, 2006, you would expect it to be messy and hard to follow. It’s not at all' well I for one beg to differ. I am finding it confusing too, as zebo says some of the characters look the same.

Gness,

Why dont you knit us all a few clues?
Trt....I think that would be easier than following what's happening and who's who....x
hopefully you're knitting me a christmas jumper with a reindeer on it ...
Oh Lord!...Ael...I thought you ordered the one with the Christmas fairy and the flashing wand!...... :-(
typical, i'm going to finish up with two of those now
Just like all the other whodunnits then. My guess there is a conspiracy in high places, Tony being blocked at every turn. I shant be watching any more . He will have an affair with the French bird before the end then go back to the wife when the boy (and the baby snatching ring) is found.
I'm one of the few people never to have seen this programme. I'm told it's very good. Maybe it'll be repeated and I can watch it from the start.
I'm having trouble following it too, who's who and when is when, plus I fall asleep during it which doesn't help at all.
janbee, here is a link for the first episode:

janbee, go to the BBC iPlayer website, where you can catch up.
