I had to watch this twice until I believed what happened ! Apparently he was only given a community order. I presume that he is no longer a serving Policeman, but this looks to me like a serious assault. Shouldn't he have gone to jail ?

I think so. Hardly self-defence!
i was absolutely stunned watching it, how on earth did he not go to prison.
Absolutely disgraceful! She should sue - and that's not something that I would normally say but she was assaulted.
Shameful....I missed the bit where she bit his finger....was it on camera or did he make it up?

Of course he did.....it's the type of wound that can easily be self inflicted.
seen worse than that and they were found not guilty

Can anybody find anything else about this case on the 'net ? The BBC News website is the only one I use on a regular basis and the link is woefully short of details.
'PC Kiddie said a "snarling" Ms Reed had bitten him on the finger and claimed she had the Aids virus.'

Unprofessional I'll agree, but if the above is true perhaps understandable?
This C4 report goes into a bit more detail, Mikey.

Note the place where this occured - Neumans LLP, and the name of the womans defence lawyers. Seems this all occured during a visit to her solicitor.

And it reports that he will dismissed from the MPS
Maybe an initial instinctive clout, Shoota - but not the sustained strikes to the head and throwing to the floor. Well, not in my opinion anyway.
Oops sorry forget my comment regarding the Neumanns LLP thing - I misunderstood that bit ;)
sneaky defence lawyers with cctv , he would have got off if they lost the data
Even if it were true that she bit his finger and claimed she had HIV, his job is to record and report it, not beat her up. In the wrong job.

shoota...where is this info coming from ? It isn't in the link above.

Anyway, its highly unlikely that this thug of a Plod could contract AIDS if someone bit his finger. Not that it matters and no, I don't think its understandable at all. Another aspect of this case is the continuing stupidity of some Met Plods. There was a CCTV camera behind him and he still assaulted this woman ! Is there any basic intelligence level required at all to serve in the Met ? After all that has happened recently, you would have thought that least he would have the sense to beat up this woman out of shot of the camera.
It is in your link Mikey, on the 'read more' bit.

The Mail link has more detail.
Looking at his track record, Mikey....he's not the brightest spark and yes..he is in the wrong job....though I don't know what the right job is.

Are we to believe that all this happened in the offices of the bl**dy defence lawyers ? Well, that takes the biscuit and answers my own question...the Plod involved is not only a thug but a particularly stupid one at that.
i was watching the video footage on the news, it's horrendous, he lamps her over and over, drags her all over the place, what the hell is that
She sounds a nasty piece of work, and there was undoubtedly some provocation, but his response was completely disproportionate and totally unprofessional. His track record contains some minor blemishes too.

There are many good and honest and thoroughly professional police officers, serving both in the MPS and elsewhere. The danger is that actions like this, coupled with the drip drip drip allegations of incompetence and chicanery and high-handedness throughout the MPS demean the service and reduce public respect for and compliance with the police in general.
This is not the full incident, you cannot see what has gone on before this tape starts.
Presumably the court did and based their decision on the full story.
