I may have dreamed this, but I seem to remember seeing a film from years back (possibly French) where a blonde actress (Catherine Deneuve, perhaps?) was driving an open-top car, wind blowing through her hair, to the strains of an annoying little tune.

It had quite a dream-like, easy listening feel to it and went (here goes):
Baah daah daah da da da da da, da da da da da (the "da"s are quite quick) over and over again. Now, every time I see an open top car being driven by a blonde woman, this stupid tune goes through my head. Can anyone please tell me the name of the film, or tune, or both? Failing that, anyone know a good psychiatrist?

It doesn't quite fit, but the music may have been "Music To Watch Girls By" (it's been ads for Fiat and Nescaf). I think the Fiat ad had a girl driving around continental street while her boyf was ogling women until she snogs a passing stranger.

No, it wasn't Music To Watch Girls By. This was an instrumental tune, although it may possibly have had some breathy female vocals (not words, just da da das along with the tune).

Thanks for trying anyway.
Hello ! I'ts quite possibly a shot in the dark here, but could it be Un homme et une femme, by claude Lelouch ? it was filmed in 1966, and I seem to remember that tune chabadabada, chaaa bah dah chababada....I've got it in my head now. Ggrrrr !
"The Girl from Ipenema"? (Often played as an instrumental and features - amongst others - in "Le Zebre".)

maximo - you could very well be on to something! That sounds like it could be the tune. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with Catherine Deneuve or anyone similar, but it's entirely possible I may have two films mixed up. Thanks..

LeMarchand - sorry, not The Girl From Ipanema (although a similar feel to it). I admire your persistence though :-)
Oh I know the one you mean lom. It was a song and also an instrumental form the 60's. The song had the words "We'll be together so much in love" Not the Turtles song. Sung by Ray Connif singers or similiar, You've got me going now!

It is indeed the theme from "Un homme et une Femme" by Francis Lai.

The movie starred Anouk Aimee.

Thanks all. Well, it doesn't seem to be anything to do with blondes driving convertibles (wonder where I got that from) but at least my hunch of it being a French film was right. :-)

I think the song you're looking for is Goodbye Sadness (Tristeza) by Astrud Gilberto. She's a Brazilian artist who recorded Girl From Ipanema. Go to:-
