Going for a walk round the block.
A cycle that folds up so you will be able to store it easily when you get tired of it... usually at around week three
These things are good for hanging clothes on, and occupying spare space in a spare room. For exercise, as others have said, wrap up warm and go for a walk.
Depends on what you wish to achieve. I think the rowing machine pushes you harder, but for the same reason is more likely to stay on the corner of the room unused.
The wife! ;-)
Exercise bike or treadmill.
exercising bikes make great cloth hangers :)
A home decorating kit, some sheets of plasterboard and lots of sandpaper.
If you just want to give your bum/legs and heart a workout, then an exercise bike is ideal. If you want to tone up your arms then a cross trainer is better. Rowing machines are fine, but they can be a bit intense (Working on the assumption you're a novice excerciser - apologies if you're not). This is the best of both worlds (Cross trainer & Excercise bike)

Wii Fit. It measures your progress, too.
I have had a stepper since I smashed my knee to build up muscle strength, also helps the circulation too as I have no stairs to trot up and down.
