Watching most of the Four In A Bed Series why are the owners of these establishments so scruffy. 50% of them wear jeans yet they have large suitcases when they go from place to place. What is in these cases.
If i was playing over a £100 a night and I was greeted with someone wearing jeans , I would look for somewhere else to stay . As the Hotel Inspector says on another programme image is everything

Have you seen the price of some jeans?

;-)

I don't see anything wrong with wearing jeans. However the guy who opened the door to me at an Epsom B&B possibly didn't have the best of images. He was wearing old jeans and a vest and hadn't shaved for days. When he opened the door (after a considerable wait) he grunted and showed me upstairs. As he closed the door I noticed that the past few month's free newspapers were in a mound on the floor behind the door, simply pushed there by the force of the door being opened occasionally. He handed me a single towel that was clearly several decades old, leaving me to work out for myself that I'd have to visit the convenience store across the road if I wanted any such little luxuries as soap!
if that was Epsom, it was probably still £100 a night...

I wasn't paying, Jno. (The company I contract for had booked it). But I seem to recall that the invoice was for around £55 or £60 per night which included 'continental breakfast' meaning nothing more than cornflakes! (I'm also still wondering how, if someone actually changes the sheets on a bed, they can possibly miss the screwed-up fag packet on the threadbare carpet just 1" under the edge of the bed!).

By contrast, the very best accommodation I've ever stayed in (including some very plush places charging over £150 per night) charged just £35 per night, including complimentary wine in the room, for the comfiest bed I've ever slept in, with a superb breakfast choice (such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon) and every possible luxury. (There were several dozen types of luxury shower gels, shampoos and body lotions in the bathroom!):

(I can't even find a TripAdvisor listing for that dump in Epsom. It's that bad! However, if you're ever that way, the place to avoid is the Epsom Lodge B&B).
Agree image is everything, I would like to be greeted with someone smartly dressed, even serving breakfast some of the hosts are scruffy and off putting. Jeans are casual wear and not dressy.
Wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
