>>It's just a pity that his fortune is derived from such cr@p software!
While no great fan of Microsoft (I used to work for IBM) you cant say software is crap when it is used by millions and millions of customers all over the world.
If it was that crap then people would look for alternatives. There are plenty of alternatives to their software but people still buy it and use it.
With product like Windows Server and SQL Server some companies bet their business on it, and if it was crap they would certainly stop using it.
I agree early on some of their underhand methods for getting Windows on every PC was a bit dodgy, but now it is there most people are happy with it.
And look how many people VOLUNTERALY moved up to Windows 7 when it came out, or are moving up to Windows 8.
People dont HAVE to do this they CHOOSE to do it.
They would not do that if the software was crap.
I have built a number of PCs in the past, from different components from different companies, and after putting them together Windows has always installed with no problem. That is quite an achievement.
I would like to see if you could write a piece of software that would install on millions of PCs all over the world (with different hardware, and in different languages).
I used to work in software development at IBM and I can tell you, it is not easy.
