I so nearly wasn't going to bother watching X Factor on Saturday night but then I relented. And wish I hadn't. What's happened to all the hilarious auditions of those who can't sing a note? There were very few of them and they're always the best bit! And as for Mel B - she has to be the rudest person I've ever come across and she looks absolutely terrible. I think even the other Judges were embarrassed by her.

Was she on the judging panel to help boost the show's ratings? i.e. Told to be controversial.

It's all about the ratings. They already know who's won before the final and all the arguments are staged to get more viewers. I don't watch it.

Interestingly, Mel B's approach is far closer to the 'real' audition process than that portrayed by the other judges.

In a real audition situation, the majority of people wouldn't get as far as standing on the X - they'd be walking off the way they walked on without breaking step because they don't look right, so how they sound would be irrelavent.

There are exceptions to this rule - the most obvious of course being Susan Boyle - but as a rule, people who don't look like pop stars will not become pop stars - Alexandra Burke against Michelle McManus illustrates that point perfectly.

After about three or four seconds, a lot of auditions are over, because that is how long it takes so see if anyone is going to have a chance of getting anywhere - but of course, that is not good television.

I imagine there will be more 'hopefuls' as the weeks unfold - there is no major pull for viewers in the early weeks without them.

Quite possibly - Simon Cowell will stoop to any levels to get the ratings for his shows!

You can see why she's called Scary Spice1 I agree that that is more likely to be the way that proper auditions are carried out, but she was downright unpleasant - even if the act is an absolute no I think that most judges would try to find something positive to say as well as turning them down rather more gently than Mel did! I don't usually watch X Factor, but I turned on just in time to see Zoe(?) throw a wobbly and stage a dramatic exit! Quite exciting!

She was a bit over the top I thought. Fancies herself a bit !

Also over the top was that Zoe girl (who sings Pink songs), what a nasty piece of work she was and her Dad sticking up for her as well after her bad behaviour.

i thought Mel B was nice, but now I think she is quite heartless.

What amazed me was that she accused the judges of asking her to sing a Pink song, but they didn't!! Not a nice girl methinks .....

Mel B could have said NO without being so downright rude,however it's got publicity and people talking so maybe thats what it's all about. Zoe was a total disgrace and I hope it's the last we hear from her.

Mel B....now what happened to her career (other than relaunches with no new material for many a year). What gives her the right to judge others, ditto the other female judges who have little or no experience of what the 'market'demands. The whole programme is contrived and totally false - aimed at gullible teens in the main. It's had it's day......which is why Cowell has disappeared.
