Would they see them as too slow with not enough action?

I've met Americans who loved Morse though they think we all live in lovely places like Oxford.
Well, considering that there are no 'F' ing and blinding, 'buddy buddy patois and bling drug dealing I guess they would not understand them. That said I'm not as keen now either. They now come over as too 'safe' after the delights of Swedish 'Wallander's', 'The Killing', The Bridge','Borgen', Those Who Kill', 'Spiral' and 'Braquo'.
Well I don't remember much action in Colombo but there seems enough episodes of that
It seems to be on ALL the time
Columbo had class and more cerebral
Unfortunately, here in the U.S. we rarely receive the Morse or Lewis[i programs, but, for a number of seasons we did watch [i]Midsomer Murders[i] and greatly appreciated John Nettles' [i]Chief Inspector Thomas Geoffrey Barnaby[i]. So much so, that at the last showing of the series on an obscure cable channel, we could only watch it at 0800 on [i]Saturday![i]. We (Mrs. C. and me) never missed an episode if we could help it.
Sadly, it's not carried on BBC America (although [i]Top Gear] is.
I haven't purchased the boxed DVD's yet... hoping that'll be a birthday present sometime...
Appears the vaunted italics function isn't working...
italic
you have to avoid leaving spaces between the square brackets and the word
I love Columbo ....
I think you will find that America is a broad church. Many years ago I remember having an on-line chat with an American gentleman who was writing about how much he had enjoyed seeing 'My Name is Joe' in a local cinema.
and again

Did you sort out recording the play?
There are an awful lot of murders in Oxford and Midsomer - you are far safer in NewYork
It's all those middle class Toffs isn't it Hopkirk, whacking off the competition.
