i know i'm not really able to moan about how people bring up their children but really her and her husband take the biscuit in this programme.
Every week their children run around breaking things, jumping on things, getting in people's ways, shouting, screaming holding up work etc. And the parents just shrug their shoulders as if to say "oh well, what can you do?"
i know it's nice for the kids to have an upbringing where they can just play outdoors etc but they ride their bikes round the house! and the parents do loads of knocking down stuff when the kids are just standing there and could be squashed. grrrr
I was cringing when they allowed the kids to jump on the new 'Chinese' Bed. It's the same with the Orangery, they had a new carpet down then decided to plasterboard the walls, but left the carpet down. The kids are having a wonderful life by the look of it but they ride scooters in the (dusty) hallway and generally jump all over the place. It must have cost a fortune to do it all up.
Watching another restoration programme 'To the manor Reborn' now. Not nearly on the same scale and less interesting. With Paul Martin and Penelope Keith.
I think they are a lovely family. Sarah and her husband obviously adore each other and their children and I wish I'd have had a childhood like that. It's a massive house so why does it matter that the kids right their bikes around the corridors. It would take their little legs ages to get from one end to the other without them. They are all so laid back and spend so much time with the children who I think are a credit to them. And I wish I had a brother like Dicken? he's fabulous. I think Sarah Beeney is a very lucky lady and it has been a delightful programme. I'm a total control freak but I wish I was more like her.
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series, the children were number one priority and it was refreshing to see little ones not wrapped in cotton wool,. The jumping on the bed was because they decided to keep the room for themselves. A joyous family and good luck to them.
