I used to love watching Jim'll Fix It as a child. He was rather eccentric but did alot of charity work and raised alot of money by running marathons, etc. RIP Jim!
grasscarp....Mwahahaha!...do you live in Scarborough.
I met him in the mid 60's at the Leeds General Infirmary when he went every Friday morning for years without fail, pushing patients to X-Ray, theatre etc.
He parked his Rolls Royce in the Consultant's car park which upset them.
No. I live in London. I worked for the BBC and met him when he started Saviles travels. He knew my then boyfriend and told me not to bother. Wise words. He also told me about his time in the mines, when he was sitting on the corner in case the wagon came off its track. He used to take down books to read and became quite knowledgable. He was a very genuine person. Sad to hear of his passing.
I met him briefly when my mate was in Stoke Mandeville hospital. He was pushing a bed down a corridor and stopped to ask my mate how he was feeling while we were visiting.
A real legend and great fundraiser. Hope he just died peacefully in his sleep.
What would you have liked him to "fix for you" if you had appeared on his show? I always wanted to meet Cliff.........
